What We Believe On The Issues of Theology and Mission of the New Testament Church
Description
That the church, which is the Body of Christ, is fulfilled only as a local assembly. We do not believe in the universal, invisible church theory.
(Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:47, 8:1, 11:22, 16:5; I Corinthians 12:12-14; II Corinthians 11:2; Ephesians 1:22-23, 3:21, 5:25-27; Colossians 1:24)
That the continuance and perpetuity of the church is clearly taught in scriptures, and that the establishment and continuance of God’s Baptist Churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures.
(Acts 14:27, 20:17, 28-32; I Timothy 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)
Ordinances
We recognize water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as the only ordinances of obedience for the church in this age.
Baptism
We recognize only water baptism (total immersion), brought to the New Testament church by John the Baptist, as this scriptural ordinance. To be a scriptural Baptism it must have:
1. A proper candidate: born again
2. A proper mode: immersion
3. A proper design: show the true gospel (death, burial, and resurrection)
4. A proper motive: placed into the church
5. A proper authority: The New Testament Baptist Church
Lord’s Supper
We recognize the Lord’s Supper as a memorial supper only. It is to only be administered by and to members in good standing of our local New Testament Baptist Church.
(Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42, 18:18; Exodus 12)
Authority
That God’s church should not be under subjection to any ecclesiastical authority, or any other church or organization. Once organized into a church, the members of that church are responsible for the conduct of its affairs, both financial and spiritual.
Missions
That God has given His New Testament Baptist Churches a Great Commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations in order to redeem a great multitude of people from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
(Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; II Corinthians 5:20)
That all missionary endeavors should be carried on within the confines of the local church.
That Scriptural evangelists (Missionaries) should operate from within a Local New Testament Baptist Church.
Education
That it is essential to the Biblical beliefs of the church to provide an education program which is based on and consistent with biblical teachings in both content and structure.
That the home and church together are responsible before God for providing a Christian education to its members.
(Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Ephesians 6:4; Colossians 3:17)
Giving
That every child of God is a steward, and that God’s wealth is entrusted to him and he is obligated to support his local church financially.
(Genesis 4:20; Leviticus 27:28-34; Proverbs 3:9-10; Malachi 3:8-11; Matthew 23:23; Luke 6:38; Acts 4:34-37; I Corinthians 16:1-2; II Corinthians 8:1-8, 9:6-7; Galations 6:6; Ephesians 4:28; I Timothy 5:17-18; I John 3:17)
Issues of Civil Government
Establishment of Authority
That God has ordained and created all authority consisting of three basic institutions: the home, the church, and the civil government.
(Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:17; I Peter 2:13-14)
Establishment of Responsibility
God has given each institution specific Biblical responsibilities and balanced those responsibilities with the understanding that no institution has the right to infringe upon the other.
(Romans 13:1-7; Ephesians 5:22-24; Hebrews 13:17; I Peter 2:13-14)
Issues of Christian Living
Separation
That all the saved should live in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon their Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God.
(Romans 12:1-2, 14:13; II Corinthians 6:14, 7:1-2; II Timothy 3:1-5; I John 2:15-17; II
John 9-11)
Issues of Social Consequence
Human Sexuality
That God has commanded that no intimacy should be engaged in outside of marriage.
(Genesis 2:24, 19:5, 13, 26:8-9; Leviticus 18:1-30; Romans 1:26-29; I Corinthians 5:1, 6:9; I Thessalonians 4:1-8)
Divorce and Remarriage
That God hates divorce and intends marriage to last until one of the spouses dies.
(Malachi 2:14-17; Matthew 19:3-12; Romans 7:1-3; I Timothy 3:2; Titus 1:6)
Abortion
We believe that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is a living human being.
(Job 3:16; Psalms 51:5, 139:14-16; Isaiah 44:24, 49:1, 5; Jeremiah 1:5, 20:15-18; Luke 1:44)
Marriages
This amendment is proposed in order to prevent marriages being performed in this church that do not stand in agreement with the Scriptures as we know them, as found in the King James Bible of 1611.
Biblical marriage shall be known as:
• One man and one woman for one lifetime. (Genesis 2:21-24)
• Husband and wife to be united for one life time. (Romans 7:1-25)
• Rules for separation and reconciliation. (1 Corinthians 7:1-40)
